State Tournament Berths and Memorable Finishes Highlight 2017 Fall Seasons

It was a successful fall for area sports teams. From improbable comeback wins to state tournament berths, local sports teams provided memories during their fall seasons.
Football
The season will be remembered however for the improbable 29-27 comeback win against St. Michael-Albertville.
Osseo finished their season 3-6. The Orioles picked up an impressive 14-7 win over Blaine on Homecoming and followed it up with a last second loss to Champlin Park the following week. The Orioles were defeated in the first round of the playoffs by Sauk Rapids-Rice.
Girls Soccer
Maple Grove advanced to the state tournament for the first time in program history, then advanced to the championship game before losing 2-1 on a header with five seconds left in the game. The Crimson finished the season 19-3.
The Osseo girls finished a tough season 1-12-2. The Orioles have a pair of young goal keepers that will return next season in Erica Seitz and Anna Carona
Boys Soccer
The Maple Grove boys also advanced to the state tournament finishing in fourth place after losing 2-1 to Duluth East in the third place game. The Crimson finished the season 16-3-2.
Osseo finished the season 5-6-2 and lost to Mounds View in the opening round of the section tournament.
Girls Tennis
The Maple Grove girls tennis team continued to improve led by 8th grader Zoe Adkins who made yet another trip to the state singles tournament.
Adapted Soccer
The Pirates, a team comprised of players from Maple Grove, Osseo and Park Center finished third in the State Tournament with a 14-7 victory over St. Paul Humboldt.
Volleyball
Maple Grove finished 22-7 and lost in the semifinals of the section tournament to St. Michael-Albertville.
Osseo completed their season 15-10 and lost to Rogers 3-2 in the section quarterfinals.
Cross Country
The Maple Grove girls Cross Country team advanced to the state meet, finishing 16th overall.
