The city of Maple Grove in early November announced its participation in the 2017 Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25.

"Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting local small businesses and strengthening and celebrating communities across the country.  The city is partnering with Arbor Lakes Business Association (ALBA) in celebrating the small businesses in Maple Grove," the city stated in a press release.

At the Nov. 6 meeting, the Maple Grove City Council proclaimed Nov. 25 as "Small Business Saturday" in the Maple Grove community.

"We want to encourage Maple Grove residents to support local and small businesses on that day and throughout the year," Councilmember Judy Hanson said at the meeting.

Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday serves as the ceremonial kickoff to the holiday shopping season for small businesses across the United States," the city stated.
