Presents Stolen, Shoplifters Suspected, Trapped Bird: MGPD Incident Report

The following synopsis of incidents occurred in Maple Grove Dec. 3-9, 2017, as provided by the Maple Grove Police Department Additional details for burglaries, robbery, arson, and theft can be found on the city website crime mapping section

December 3

I-94 and County Road 81. Officer on routine patrol observed a speeding vehicle driving erratically. Contact made with driver, who was arrested for DWI.

18600 block of 97th Place. Report of suspicious vehicle pulling into driveways and stopping at mailboxes. Due to concerns regarding recent mail thefts in the area, officer made contact with driver who was delivering newspapers.

8000 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of theft that had just occurred. Officers responded and arrested two suspects for shoplifting at multiple stores. 

December 4

7400 block of Vinewood Way. Report of vehicle sitting out in front of home for extended period. Officer made contact occupants who were talking in the car so they would not wake roommates inside the residence.

9600 block of Winslow Chase. Report of mail stolen from several residences in the area.

8100 block of Oakview Lane. Report of unknown animal trapped in basement.  Officer responded and found an uninjured bird, which was transferred to a cage and released at nearby park. 

December 5

9400 block of Garland Lane. Report of a door stolen off a Bobcat parked outside of business; no suspect information.

13200 block of 90th Avenue. Report of neighbor attempting to use outside outlet at residence. Officer made contact and found that the individual was without power and attempting to thaw frozen door of vehicle, assistance provided to gain access.

8500 block of Underwood Lane. Report of garage door opener stolen overnight from vehicle parked in garage, no suspect information. 

December 6

9500 block of Dunkirk Lane. Report of an argument between two customers inside place of business. Officer responded and separated parties, no criminal action.

8000 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of suspected shoplifter. Officer responded and the individual arrested for theft and trespassed from the store.

12900 block of Weaver Lake Road. Report of counterfeit bill taken at place of business, incident under investigation. 

December 7

8000 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of individual taking items from store and running out the door, suspect not located.

7400 block of Peony Lane. Report of interrupted burglary at residence. Officers responded, suspect not located. Follow-up investigation being conducted.

9500 block of 103rd Avenue. Report of individual who had fallen; officer responded and assisted paramedics in transferring victim into ambulance for transport to hospital.

7900 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of erratic driving in which the individual ran a red light and a stop sign. Officer responded, person did not have a valid driver’s license. Individual arrested for driving after cancellation - inimical to public safety. 

December 8

12400 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of theft from retail store, individual left in a vehicle. Officer made contact with the individual who was arrested for possession of stolen property.

8100 block of Xene Lane. Report of unknown party trying to open front door, homeowner’s dog was furiously barking. Suspect not located, extra patrol conducted.

15300 block of Grove Circle. Report of theft in progress. Officers responded, one individual arrested for theft and trespassed from the store. Follow-up investigation on potential involvement of additional person. 

December 9

8600 block of Pineview Lane. Report of bag of presents stolen from locked vehicle parked in business lot overnight. No suspect information.

9200 block of Merrimac Lane. Report of laptop stolen. Package tracking showed laptop delivered along with other items ordered.  No suspect information.

9400 block of Dunkirk Lane. Report of shoplifter in custody. Officer responded, individual arrested for theft and trespassed from the store. 

During this time period there were 39 property damage traffic accidents and two property damage injury traffic accidents.
