Ice Fishing, Suspicious Vehicle, Hallway Sleeper: MGPD Incident Report

The following synopsis of incidents occurred in Maple Grove Dec. 16, 2017, as provided by the Maple Grove Police Department. Additional details for burglaries, robbery, arson, and theft can be found on the city website crime mapping section. 

December 10

  • 9600 block of Grove Circle. Employee reported individual sleeping in the hallway outside of hotel room.  Officer made contact; the person had come back with guests who were not answering the door. Individual advised to leave since he was not registered. 
  • 11800 block of Fountains Way. Report of domestic occurring inside hotel room. Officer responded and found it was verbal only. Staff requested individuals leave the premise due to the disturbance, officer stood by while they left no further issues.
  • 11900 block of Main Street. Report of backpack stolen from back of chair inside of business, no suspect information.

December 11

  • 18500 block of 85th Avenue. Report of owl trapped in soccer net in homeowner’s backyard.  Officer responded, cut the bird free, and transported it to the Raptor Center.
  • 8100 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of shoplifter in custody. Officer responded, the individual was arrested for shoplifting and two warrants.
  • 12500 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of miscellaneous items stolen from vehicle while individual was inside of business, no suspect. 

December 12

  • 11600 block of Lakeland Drive. Report of household items stolen from storage locker, no suspect information.
  • 11900 block of 71st Avenue. Report of individual who had fallen. Officer responded and assisted the uninjured person into a chair, no further assistance needed.
  • 15300 block of Grove Circle. Report of a hit and run in parking lot of business by intoxicated driver. Officer made contact with the individual at his residence who was cited for fourth degree DWI, careless driving, and property damage hit and run. 
  • 10600 block of County Road 81. Report of license plates stolen from vehicle parked outside of repair shop. 

December 13

  • 16600 block of 92nd Avenue. Report of unwanted person.  Officer responded and found ex-boyfriend was in the lobby repeatedly buzzing individual’s callbox. Advised he needed to leave the premise, information was given to the reporting party regarding a protection order.
  • 7900 block of Main Street. Report of two individual’s ice fishing. Officer made contact and informed the individuals that ice fishing was not allowed, parties left. 
  • 12500 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Officers on patrol made contact with two occupants of a suspicious vehicle by nearby business. Suspects were arrested for shoplifting and trespassed from the store.

December 14

  • 9800 block of 65th Avenue. Report of driver of vehicle going through mailboxes along the street, concerns due to recent mail thefts in the neighborhood.  Officer responded, unable to locate the vehicle. Individual advised to contact police immediately if reoccurs.
  • 9800 block of Maple Grove Parkway. Report of male looking inside of vehicles in parking lot of business. Officers responded, unable to locate suspects and vehicle they left in. 
  • 11500 block of Fountains Drive. Report of several jackets stolen from retail store, incident is under investigation.

December 15

  • 13700 block of 74th Avenue. Report of argument between two individuals, resulting in one individual damaging property. No criminal charges pursued.
  • 13500 block of Grove Drive. Report of possible fraudulent financial transactions occurring at place of business. Incident documented for further investigation.
  • 7000 block of Carey Lane. Report of individual having difficulty breathing.  Officer responded and offered assistance until ambulance arrived to transport victim to the hospital. 

December 16

  • 13500 block of 80th Circle. Report of unattended children left in vehicle outside of business. Officer responded and found older child was of responsible age and capable of looking after sibling while mother was in the store for a short time.
  • 12400 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of suspicious activity in retail store.  Officer responded suspect arrested for shoplifting and trespassed from business. 
  • 6700 block of Yucca Lane. Report of Christmas lights stolen from outside residence, no suspect. 

During this time period there were 40 property damage traffic accidents and seven property damage injury traffic accidents.
