Maple Grove, Osseo, Heritage Christian Play in Holiday Tournaments

The Maple Grove Crimson girls hockey team won the Walser Tournament at Braemar Ice Arena at Edina. The Crimson upended No. 4 ranked Edina in a shootout to secure the championship. Maple Grove scored two goals in the third period to force a 3-3 tie and overtime, then a shootout. The Crimson defeated Alexandria (4-2) and Breck (5-3) to advance to the championship.
Osseo/Park Center finished 1-2 in the Schwan’s Cup. O-PC lost to Chisago Lakes 3-2 in the opening round, then rallied to defeat the St. Paul Blades 6-0 in the second round before falling to the Capital City Cougars 3-2 in the final game of the tournament.
Osseo traveled to Warroad for the Hockeytown Holiday Classic and the Orioles finished with a 2-1 record with wins over International Falls (2-0) and Grafton, ND (6-2). Osseo’s loss came to host Warroad who defeated the Orioles 6-0.
Maple Grove played in the St. Michael-Albertville Holiday tournament and split the two day event going 1-1. The Crimson fell to host STMA in the opening round 60-47 and then bounced back with a 63-46 win over Burnsville. Freshman Jordyn Lamker received all-tournament team honors leading the Crimson with 18 points in both games.
Osseo traveled to Rochester to play in the Rotary Classic. The Orioles dropped a pair of games, losing to Rochester John Marshall 64-49 and Lake City 54-34.
Heritage Christian Academy took part in the Esko Holiday Tournament. The Eagles lost 56-52 in the opening round against host Esko, then fell to Hermantown 58-46 in the second round.
Maple Grove played in the University of St. Thomas Tournament and finished 1-1. The Crimson lost to Wayzata 60-52 in the opening game. Jordan Stensland led the way for the Crimson with 26 points. The Crimson bounced back with a 75-47 win over Academy of Holy Angels.
Osseo headed north to play three games over the holiday break. The Orioles played Chanhassen in the Northstar State Hardwood Showcase where they fell to the Storm 64-62. They then traveled to Hibbing to play in the Hibbing Holiday Tournament and picked up a pair of wins. The Orioles defeated Duluth East 64-57, then New Prague 52-42.
Heritage Christian Academy split a pair of games in the Esko Holiday Tournament. The Eagles lost their opening game 75-56 to Hinckley-Finlayson, then defeated St. Peter 67-63.
