After breaking ground last year at The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes, Portillo's - Maple Grove announced their restaurant opening 10:30 am. Tuesday, Jan. 23.
The Maple Grove restaurant will be the second Minnesota location for Portillo’s, following a 2017 opening in Woodbury.
Located at 12251 Elm Creek Boulevard North, the 9,000-square foot restaurant features a Prohibition-themed interior, drawing décor inspiration from the 1920’s era. Portillo’s Maple Grove offers seating for more than 200 guests, a seasonal outdoor patio, and double-lane drive-thru.
“Maple Grove Transit Station users should be aware of the potential for increased traffic in the area. There may also be a higher demand for the parking stalls in the Transit Station ramp,” Maple Grove Transit said in an email to transit users. “This event will most likely have the largest potential impact to the Route 781 trip at 11:24 a.m. Riders should be on the lookout for impacts for the remainder of the week.”
Portillo’s was founded in 1963 and includes menu items such as hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers, salads, ribs, and dessert in addition to catering.
Portillo’s partnered with ISD 279 - Osseo Area Schools and CROSS Services to host fundraisers during the restaurant’s sneak peek preview meals. Portillo’s matched collected donations up to $5,000.
“The citizens of Maple Grove were very supportive and vocal about bringing Portillo’s to their city,” CEO Keith Kinsey said. “We felt it was important to return the favor by supporting these two organizations that give back to the local community.”
As of the beginning of 2017, 46 Portillo’s restaurants were operating in California, Indiana, Arizona, Florida and Wisconsin.
