Photos, Recap: Crimson Girls Basketball Team Lose OT Battle Against Lakeville North in State Quarterfinals

The Maple Grove Senior High School Crimson girls basketball team dropped a heartbreaking loss in overtime 68-66 to Lakeville North High School in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Minnesota State High School League State Tournament March 14.
The Crimson hit five three-point field goals in the first half including two by Rebekah Tyler that helped build a 32-27 half-time lead.
Maple Grove extended their lead to nine early in the second half, but the Panthers went on a 10-3 run and with nine minutes left in the game took a 43-42 lead and would extend the lead to 48-44 after a basket by Lauren Jensen who led all scorers with 31 points. The Crimson trailed 58-53 before freshman Jordyn Lamker made four straight free throws to pull Maple Grove within a point. Autumn Mlinar scored to put the Crimson up 59-58 with 1:13 remaining. It was Jensen who scored to tie the contest and send the game to overtime after Abby Schulte’s shot at the buzzer rimmed out.
In overtime, things looked good for Maple Grove. Abby Schulte put the Crimson up four with a pair of free throws and a driving layup with 1:42 left. The Panthers defense created turnovers and Jensen was fouled with .3 seconds left in the game and stepped to the free throw line making both shots and sending the Crimson to the consolation round.
Autumn Mlinar led the Crimson in scoring with 19 points while Katrina Theis added 13 points and 9 rebounds.
