Heritage Christian Academy  Head coach Tim Herman knew his team was going to be in for a tough test in the quarterfinal round of the 2018 MSHSL Class A State Boys Basketball Tournament. The Grizzlies entered the contest 29-1 and boasted one of the top guards in the state in Cade Goggleye. North Woods shot 57 percent from the field and took advantage of a slow Eagles start to pick up a 74-36 win at Williams Arena Thursday, March 22.

“These are such a great group of young guys and I wanted them to put their best foot forward and show the world what they can do,” Head Coach Tim Herman said. “We just regret not being able to do that.”

The Grizzlies used a relentless full court pressure to build a 17 point lead in the first half before the Eagles cut it to 11. That would be as close as Heritage Christian Academy would get the rest of the game.

Goggleye scored 23 in the game, leading all scorers and was 8-for-11 from the field including 4-for-6 from three point range.

“He’s probably the best player we’ve played all year,” HCA Senior Ben Allen said. “Just his ability to shoot from anywhere, control the game. He really runs his team well as a point guard.”

Allen led the Eagles in scoring with 11 points.

The Eagles will face Rushford-Peterson in the consolation round noon Friday, March 23.
