Two Osseo Senior High students were recently announced to have been selected as National Scholastic Art Award Winners.

"This selection puts them among the top one percent of 7-12 grade art and writing students nationwide," Art Teacher Daniel Prody said in a press release. More than 3,000 works of art were awarded gold and silver medals this year, 29 awarded gold in ceramics.

Ben Gilbertson's ceramics piece “Post Historic" is being awarded a National Gold Medal and Eric Lundstrom's piece “Cimmerian Reverie” is being awarded the National Silver Medal in photography.

“This is in an awesome way to be recognized," Lundstrom said.

The winning pieces will be displayed this summer at Carnegie Hall in New York City. As one of the gold medal winners, Gilbertson will be in attendance at a ceremony and his work will be part of a two year travelling exhibition.

“This is a great way to celebrate the work I have put into ceramics. I am thrilled!” Gilbertson said.

"The Art Department at Osseo thanks all of the parents, teachers, coaches, administrators and staff that have celebrated and encouraged their creativity and drive to be the best," Prody said.
