For the 10th year, Osseo Area Schools received a Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation "for its outstanding commitment to music education," according to a release from District 279.

Osseo Area Schools is one of only eight districts in Minnesota to receive this honor in 2018 and the only district in the state to achieve this feat every year since 2009, according to District 279.  In 2018, 583 school districts across the United States earned the designation.
The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Osseo Area Schools answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
