Teams representing several schools in the ISD 279 - Osseo Area Schools are advancing to the global competition. The following teams will be traveling to the Destination Imagination Global Finals 2018 May 23-26 in Knoxville, TN.

"Six Smarties" – Rush Creek Elementary

“Minnesota Rules” - Maple Grove Middle School

“D’Ideas Keep On Coming” – Maple Grove Senior High

“4-Alpha” - Brooklyn Middle School team all made it to State

“We were competing against the best teams in the state so that makes it particularly hard to earn a spot to Globals,” Rush Creek Elementary TAG (Talent Development, Academic Challenge & Gifted Support) Specialist Laura Thompson said.

To advance, teams had to perform well in both the instant challenge and main team challenge, exhibiting good teamwork, completing challenge components, and problem solving – all within a specified time.

“The ‘Six Smarties’ were beyond thrilled! Although it was a little bittersweet knowing that the other three teams from our school did not make it.  They were very aware of this and took it upon themselves not to celebrate too much in front of the other teams.  I was so proud of all my teams this year, but the ‘Six Smarties’ proved that they are great performers as well as kind and compassionate kids,” Thompson said. “That means even more to me than the win.”

To help pay for expenses to attend Globals, the “Six Smarties” have been seeking donations as we as hosting an online GoFundMe fundraiser:
