Husband and wife team, John and Carol Powers, held the grand opening of the 11649 Fountains Drive location in April.
“Coming from a rich firefighter background, I connected immediately with Firehouse Subs’ commitment to serve local communities,” John said. “My wife and I want to provide the same dedication to the city of Maple Grove and introduce guests to a product that is not only delicious, but also makes a difference. We couldn’t ask for a better place to open our first restaurant than Maple Grove, or a more perfect company to invest with and grow.”
After retiring early after 20 years of serving with the Farmington Fire Department, John started his search for his journey and found Firehouse Subs. The Maple Grove location is the first restaurant for John and Carol, who look forward to continuing to grow in Minnesota.
Along with a staff of 14, Firehouse Subs Maple Grove serves premium meats and cheeses on a toasted sub roll, served with fresh produce and condiments. In addition to its signature subs, the restaurant offers a variety of catering options from sandwich and dessert platters to salads and snacks.
Creating a "welcoming, friendly" environment has been a key component with the opening, according to John.
"Interacting with customers has been great," he said.
The new Maple Grove restaurant décor reflects the founding family’s decades of fire and police service, including a custom, hand-painted mural by Chief Mural Artist Joe Puskas depicting the Maple Grove Fire-Rescue Department fire truck and firefighters standing next to a man and child watching the Fourth of July firework display overlooking Arbor Lake.
The Maple Grove Firehouse Subs restaurant is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and provides options to eat in or take out.
