Suspicious Activity, Snakes, Dispute: Maple Grove Police Incident Report

A synopsis of some of the incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Police Department during the week of June 10-16, 2018.

June 10
8100 block of Xene Lane. Report of suspicious activity. Officer responded and found homeowners had returned home and found the gates for pool and kennel were open and a deck chair recovered in woods nearby. Extra patrol.

19700 block of Stieg Road. Report of suspicious person. Officer responded and found female lying in the weeds with bicycle nearby who appeared to be sleeping. The female awoke when approached and she stated she was just resting.  An odor of alcohol was detected. However, she was not too intoxicated to bike home safely.

9300 block of Kingsview Lane. Report of loud music. Officer responded and found large gathering for graduation party. Advised homeowner of complaint, who complied.

June 11
6500 block of Kilmer Way. Report of neighbor dispute. Officer responded and found the issue was regarding a flood light shining onto individual’s home. No violation of city ordinance. 

12500 block of 73rd Avenue. Report of damage to property. Officer made contact and found homeowner’s and a neighbor’s mailbox had been damaged overnight.  No suspect information. Extra patrol provided.

June 12
16500 block of 96th Avenue. Report of shoplifting. Officer responded and found tool had been stolen from retail store. The incident is under investigation.

6200 block of Meadowlark Lane. Report of harassment. Officer made contact and found female had sent text message to another woman that contained threats. Suspect advised criminal charges could be pursued if threats continued, victim given information regarding no contact order. 

June 13
7800 block of Yucca Lane. Report of property damage. Officer responded and found lawn ornament had been broken overnight. No suspect information.

9400 block of Dunkirk Lane. Officer on routine patrol found vehicle came back stolen. Driver was arrested for possession of stolen property and driving with no Minnesota driver’s license.

June 14
Main Street and Hemlock Lane. Officer on routine patrol observed vehicle going wrong way down a one-way street. Contact was made with the driver, who was arrested for DWI.

June 15 
10600 block of Nathan Lane. Report of property damage. Officer responded and found home had been splattered with eggs overnight. Incident under investigation and extra patrol.  

8700 block of Monticello Lane. Report of license plates stolen from vehicle overnight. No suspect information.

13300 block of Bass Lake Road. Report of no pay. Officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle who returned to the business and paid for the fuel. No further action. 

11300 block of Fountains Drive. Report of welfare check. Officer made contact with a family that was panhandling. Individuals declined any assistance and as they were not in violation of any statutes or ordinances, no further action needed.

12800 block of 82nd Place. Report of animal complaint. Officer responded and found individual had rented a vehicle and discovered a snake inside.  Conservation officer arrived to assist in transporting it from the scene.

June 16
7800 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of credit card and keys stolen from hotel room and fraudulent charges. No suspect information.

6500 block of Meadowlark Lane. Report of intoxicated female passed out in Uber vehicle and driver unable to get assistance from inside residence. Officer responded, due to the woman’s condition and no one to provide care in the home, ambulance arrived to transport the individual to hospital for care.

7700 block of Main Street. Report of car fire. Officer responded and found vehicle running and oil burning from engine but no open flames. Once the motor was turned off there were no further issues.

16500 block of 96th Avenue. Report of shoplifter. Officer responded and found the individual had exited the store with unpaid merchandise. The suspect was arrested for theft. 

During this time period there were 28 property damage traffic accidents and four property damage injury traffic accidents
