Theft by Swindle, Suspicious Activity, Lawn Mower Stolen: MGPD Incident Report

A synopsis of some of the incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Police Department the week of July 29-Aug. 4, 2018.
16800 block of 91st Avenue. Officer on routine patrol identified a stolen vehicle. Contact made with the driver, who was arrested for possession of stolen property and false information to officer.
8000 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of shoplifter in custody. Officer responded, the suspect was arrested for theft and trespassed from the business.
11800 block of 73rd Avenue. Report of group leaving restaurant without paying their bill. Incident is pending further information.
8000 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of employee theft, officer responded, the suspect had given friend unauthorized discounts. Suspect arrested for theft by swindle.
340 block of Eagle Lake. Officer responded to a noise complaint and found a group out on the patio of residence, who apologized and stated they would comply with the noise ordinance.
8600 block of Shadow Creek Drive. Report of items stolen overnight from unlocked vehicle parked in driveway. Fraudulent activity occurred on credit cards. No suspect information.
11200 block of Pheasant Lane. Report of item stolen from mailbox. Officer made contact, homeowner observed unknown vehicle stop by and take mail ready for pickup. No suspect information.
12300 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Officer on routine patrol observed suspicious vehicle. Contact made with driver, who was arrested for possession of controlled substance, drug paraphernalia. The passenger was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
8000 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of suspicious activity in retail store. Officer responded, two females were arrested for theft and trespassed from the business.
Scimed Place. Report of verbal altercation in parking lot of business. Officer made contact with individuals involved, it was determined that the situation was a civil matter. Both parties advised to separate and resolve issue in court if necessary.
96th Avenue and Maple Grove Parkway. Report of vehicle weaving on the roadway. Officer made contact with driver who had parked outside of business. The individual stated he was fatigued, but he was having trouble with his vehicle’s steering and alignment. No impairment found and no further assistance needed.
7300 block of Berkshire Way. Report of lawnmower stolen from inside of shed; no suspect information.
16400 block of 78th Avenue. Report of bag containing medical equipment stolen overnight from vehicle parked in driveway, no known suspect.
96th Avenue and Maple Grove Parkway. Officer on routine patrol made contact with driver of vehicle for traffic violation. The individual was found to have suspended driving privileges and was arrested for outstanding warrant.
6600 block of Juneau Lane. Report of verbal domestic. Officer responded and found two individuals had a verbal altercation involving their relationship. The male party agreed to leave the residence, no further assistance needed.
16500 block of 96th Avenue. Report of fraudulent checks passed at place of business, incident is under investigation.
17000 block of 93rd Place. Report of bicycle stolen from front yard of residence, no suspect information.
13600 block of 80th Circle. Report of property damage. Officer responded and found window of vehicle had been broken and a portable safe stolen, no suspect information.
13300 block of 73rd Place. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer responded and found sunglasses had been stolen from auto parked outside of residence, no suspect information.
12900 block of 63rd Avenue. Report of two individuals who had not checked out of room on time. Officer made contact with the male party who stated he and his girlfriend had come in late and had not been in any state to leave promptly in the morning. He was the only one currently in the room and cooperated without further incident.
17600 block of 69th Place. Report of oven on fire in which the homeowner had been able to extinguish the flames. Officer responded along with fire personnel who remained on scene to further assess the incident.
During this time period there were 29 property damage traffic accidents and four property damage injury traffic accidents.
