Maple Grove Eye Doctors’ practice at Pearle Vision now offers patients access to the Optomap as part of their comprehensive eye exam.

The Optomap is a 200 degree digital image of the retina – a much wider view than the traditional 45 degree image in less than 1/2 a second.  Don’t you want your doctor to see your entire retina? Yup, we do stuff the other guys don’t do.

“We are extremely pleased to offer this technology to our patients,” Director of Optometry Dr. Mark Korthals said. “Most patients feel they should only be examined when they need a change in prescription. In reality, one of the most important parts of the examination is determining the health of the retina. The Optomap provides us with a permanent digital image which we can manipulate and magnify to have the most comprehensive view of the back of the eye in order to better and more effectively discover abnormalities that may be present.”

The Optomap non-invasively captures an instantaneous, ultra-wide field digital image of the retina, revealing important information for the comprehensive evaluation of systemic and ocular health.
