Interrupted Burglary, Neighbor Trouble, Vehicle Stolen: Maple Grove Police Incident Report

A synopsis of some of the incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Police Department during the week of Aug. 19-25, 2018.

August 19
Hemlock Lane and Main Street. Officer on routine patrol observed a traffic violation. Contact was made with the driver who was arrested for DWI and possession of marijuana in motor vehicle.

7700 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of possible domestic inside of business. Officer responded and found two individuals had been involved in a verbal altercation, no charges.

9400 block of Dunkirk Lane. Report of two shoplifters in custody. Officer responded and the suspects were arrested for theft and trespassed from the business.

August 20
8600 block of I-94. Officer on routine patrol made contact with driver of vehicle who was arrested for warrants, fifth degree possession of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

8900 block of Pineview Lane. Report of interrupted burglary. Homeowner had awoken to find two males in her residence who ran out.  Vehicle had been tampered with inside of garage but nothing appeared to be missing. The incident is under investigation.

11000 block of Fountains Way. Report of theft. Officer made contact with the victim who stated fishing gear had been stolen from his boat when he had parked his trailer outside of business. No suspect information.

August 21
7400 block of Kilmer Lane. Report of threatening text messages. Officer responded and the victim stated she had received threats from an unknown person. Message was left with the suspect to cease contact or criminal charges could be pursued. Advised if anything more occurred. 

6400 block of Ranchview Lane. Report of unlocked vehicle stolen from driveway. Keys were left in center console. Vehicle was later recovered in another jurisdiction. The incident is under investigation.

15300 block of Grove Circle. Report of panhandlers playing an accordion outside of business. Officer made contact and advised the individual that management would like him to leave. Given a resource card and the male left without incident.

August 22
16000 block of 79th Place. Report of suspicious activity by neighbor. Officer responded and noted vehicles inside garage had been tampered with. Two suspects were located by officer on patrol and subsequently arrested for burglary, theft, and tampering with motor vehicle.

450 block of West Eagle Lake Drive. Report of neighbor dispute.  Officer made contact with both parties and found an argument had occurred over activities by children in the neighborhood.  Advised to separate and contact their association about rules. No further assistance needed.

August 23
Highway 610 and I-94. Report of a semi on fire. Officer responded and found the fire had been extinguished by the driver. Fire department arrived and took over the scene.

12700 block of 95th Avenue. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer made contact with the owner who stated a wallet with cash, credit cards were stolen from his unlocked car parked in the driveway overnight. Fraudulent activity occurred on his accounts; the incident is under investigation.

August 24
8500 block of Kirkwood Lane. Report of house fire. Officer responded to home that had been struck by lightning, large amount of smoke coming from roof.  The fire department responded and took over the scene.

7600 block of Blackoaks Lane. Report of mail theft. Officer made contact with the victim who stated a check had been stolen out of his mailbox, which the suspect had altered and tried to cash in another jurisdiction. The incident is under investigation.

11800 block of Fountains Way. Report of customers refusing to pay their bill due to complaint and causing a disturbance at restaurant. Officer arrived on scene. Management did not want to press charges but asked the suspects to be trespassed from the location.

August 25
13500 block of Grove Drive. Report of fight outside of business. Officer made contact with the parties involved where it was learned that a large group had gotten into an argument and two individuals had exchanged punches. No charges were requested and further assistance refused.

13600 block of Grove Drive. Report of harassment complaint. Officer responded and found a homeless family was inside the business asking people for food and money.  Management requested they be given trespass notices and they were advised regarding panhandling laws.

13500 block of 83rd Way. Report of young boy walking along the street crying.  Officer located the child who was walking home from a restaurant because he could not get his bike lock open. He was given a ride to his residence where he was safely released to his father.

During this time period there were 32 property damage traffic accidents and four property damage injury traffic accidents.
