Burglary, Shoplifting, Wrong Bus: Maple Grove Police Incident Report

A synopsis of some of the incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Police Department during the week of Sept. 16-22, 2018 in Maple Grove.

September 16

8300 block of Rice Lake Road. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer responded and found unlocked vehicle had been tampered with, a game set and miscellaneous women’s clothing stolen. No suspect information. 

12900 block of Weaver Lake Road. Report of theft. Officer responded that an individual had left cell phone unattended on a table and when he returned, it was missing. Incident under investigation. 

September 17

8100 block of Cottonwood Lane. Report of identity theft. Officer made contact and found the victim received notices that several credit cards had been opened in her name and charges that had occurred. Advised steps to take; no suspect information. 

15300 block of Grove Circle. Report of known shoplifter in store and request for trespassing. Officer responded, spoke with the suspect who was arrested for four outstanding warrants, false information to police and trespassed from the business. 

September 18

10900 block of 89th Avenue. Report of property damage. Officer responded and found a window broken on a vehicle and gate damaged at business. The suspect was located and arrested for damage to property and trespassing. 

6200 block of Sycamore Lane. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer responded, a purse had been stolen from unlocked vehicle outside of business and attempt of fraudulent activity on accounts.  The incident is under investigation. 

9400 block of Dunkirk Lane. Report of shoplifting in progress. Officer responded, the suspect was arrested for theft and trespassed from the business. 

September 19

10400 block of 99th Place. Report of interrupted burglary. Officer responded, the suspects had fled the scene when a resident had awoken and yelled. A music speaker and miscellaneous tools were stolen.  Unable to locate suspects. Incident under investigation.

8900 block of Tewsbury Gate. Report of suspicious activity. Officer responded and found vehicle had driven slowly through the neighborhood, parked on the street and pulled into driveway and left.  Contact made with homeowner of one of the residences involved, it was found that the vehicle provided home delivery service for meals. 

September 20

98th Avenue and Cottonwood Lane. Report of welfare check. Officer responded and found two boys had gotten off at the wrong bus stop and were transported to their residence. No further assistance needed. 

7800 block of Main Street. Report of unwanted person. Officer responded, there had been a disagreement between a customer and an employee about service, and the individual was refusing to leave the store. Officer advised the male party he needed to leave or he would be arrested for trespassing the male complied. 

Elm Creek Boulevard and Vinewood Lane. Officer on routine patrol observed vehicle commit traffic violation. Contact made with the driver who was arrested for DWI and 5th degree possession and other traffic offenses. 

September 21

8500 block of Rice Lake Road. Report of suspicious vehicle in which a parked bus appeared to be hiding near trees and there was concern for children’s safety.  Officer responded and found school bus parked in lot near play field.  Contact was made with the driver who stated they were waiting to start their route; no further action taken. 

8000 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of shoplifting in progress. Officer responded and found the male suspect had been observed concealing an item and had left the store. The male suspect was arrested for theft and trespassed from the business. 

7800 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer responded and found several miscellaneous items were stolen from vehicle parked outside of business. No suspect information. 

September 22

8000 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of shoplifter in custody. Officer responded and found suspect had stolen multiple items from the store, suspect was arrested for theft and trespassed from the business. 

12500 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer responded and found multiple items had been stolen from vehicle parked outside place of employment. No suspect information.

During this time period there were 25 property damage traffic accidents and six property damage injury traffic accidents.
