Mail Theft, Suspicious Vehicle, Fraudulent Activity: MGPD Incident Report

A synopsis of some of the incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Police Department during the week of Oct. 14-20, 2018 in Maple Grove.

October 14 
7900 block of Shadyview Lane. Report of stolen mail. Officer made contact, homeowner had returned from weekend trip and was informed by neighbor, her mail was found in a vacant lot. Most of the mail had been opened and gone through.  No suspect information.

October 15
6300 block of Urbandale Lane. Report of vandalism. Officer made contact and found political sign had been damaged in homeowner’s yard. No suspect information.

11900 block of 73rd Avenue. Report of theft. Officer made contact and found victim’s wallet had been stolen from vehicle while at work with subsequent fraudulent charges occurring.  The incident is under investigation.

October 16
7200 block of Forestview Lane. Report of disturbance. Officer responded and found a couple involved in a verbal altercation and the male wanted the female to leave the premise.  After collecting her belongings, the female party was transported to another location to wait for a ride.  No further assistance needed.

12700 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of shoplifting. Officer responded and two adult females were arrested for theft.

10800 block of Zopfi Way. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer made contact and found a jacket, cologne, and miscellaneous cash stolen from the unlocked vehicle. No suspect information.

October 17
11800 block of Fountains Way. Report of theft. Officer responded and found two juvenile males had entered the hotel kitchen and taken food. Both suspects were arrested for theft and trespassed from the business.

9300 block of Ranchview Lane. Report of suspicious activity. Officer made contact and found homeowner discovered unusual food package in her yard and concerns of it being set out to harm her pet or others in the neighborhood.  Extra patrol provided, advised to report anything further.

8000 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of fraudulent credit card activity. Officer responded and found several individuals had attempted to purchase store merchandise with cards under various names.  Five suspects were arrested for possession of scanning device, identity theft and financial transaction card fraud.

October 18
6800 block of Vicksburg Lane. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer responded and found wallet with cash and cards stolen overnight from vehicle. No suspect information.

16700 block of 94th Avenue. Report of suspicious vehicle. Officer made contact and found two females were out walking, a car stopped nearby, the driver took photos of them, and then apparently followed them in the vehicle before leaving the area. No suspect information.    

I-94 & Maple Grove Parkway. Officer on routine patrol observed traffic violation.  Passenger was arrested for fifth degree possession.

October 19
12500 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of unwanted parties. Officer responded and found three individuals had been disturbing other guests but had left the scene. No further assistance needed.

7700 block of Comstock Lane. Report of vandalism. Officer responded and found homeowner’s garage door and driveway had been sprayed with shaving cream. No suspect information.

October 20
12500 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of property damage. Officer responded and found window had been broken on vehicle while parked outside of business. No suspect information.

6200 block of Orleans Lane. Report of lost child. Officers on scene assisted in searching the area. The child was located at a neighbor’s home and returned home safely.

During this time period there were 18 property damage traffic accidents and four property damage injury traffic accidents.
