Accidents, Stalled Elevator, Building Fire: MGFD January Incident Report

For the month of January 2019, the Maple Grove Fire Department responded to 93 incidents. Here's a synopsis of some of those incidents. 

January 1
17700 block of 74th Place North. Strange odor/smell.

January 3 
8000 block of East Fish Lake Road. Gas leak. 

January 4
7000 block of Carey Lane North. Medical assist, assist EMS crew. 

January 6
Rice Lake Road and 91st Avenue North. Fires in structure other than building. Top of power pole was on fire. Extinguished fire.

January 14
6600 block of Kingsview Lane North. Strange odor/smell.

January 15
18300 block of 64th Avenue North. Building fire. 

January 16
15300 block of Grove Circle North. Gas leak.

January 17
Highway 610 and Hemlock Lane. Passenger vehicle fire. Responded to a car fire on Hwy 610.  Upon arriving car had struck bridge pillar and was fully engulfed. Put fire out and assisted police, extracted individual from vehicle. 

January 18
Weaver Lake Road North and Zachary Lane. Strange odor/smell.

January 19
16700 block of 94th Avenue North. Removal of victim(s) from stalled elevator. Cashier/employee stuck in elevator. Released pressure on hydraulic line and elevator returned to first floor. Manage placed elevator out of service pending service call by elevator company.

January 22
9100 block of Larch Lane North. Gas leak (natural gas or LPG).

January 23
6700 block of Berkshire Lane North. Unauthorized burning - no permit. 

January 26
Southbound I-494 and Bass Lake Road. Extrication of victim(s) from vehicle. Vehicle had major frontend damage and a crushed door. Tools used to pry/cut door and steering wheel. Assisted paramedics lifting patient from car. Assisted police in sweeping freeway and cleared.

Zachary Lane North and Weaver Lake Road. Extrication of victim(s) from vehicle. Arrived at a two-vehicle accident. One vehicle laying on passenger side with driver still in vehicle. Crew used cribbing to stabilize wheels while tow driver righted the vehicle. Crew made entry into the vehicle from the passenger side front door to speak with driver. Firefighter took patient assessment from driver side front door. Patient was able to exit vehicle on her own.

January 30
12800 block of Arbor Lakes Parkway North. Water or steam leak.

8300 block of Jonquil Lane North. Gas leak (natural gas or LPG).

13800 block of Grove Drive. Gasoline or other flammable liquid spill.

January 31
9500 block of Alvarado Lane North. Strange odor/smell.

93rd Avenue North and Ranchview Lane. Extrication of victim(s) from vehicle. Able to complete extrication without trucks/engines. No injuries.
