Disorderly Conduct, Animal Issue, Suspicious Activity: MGPD Incident Report

A synopsis of incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Police Department during the week of April 21-27, 2019.

April 21
Hemlock Lane and Arbor Lakes Parkway. Officer on routine patrol observed vehicle with equipment violations.  Contact was made with driver who exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested for DWI.

9800 Block of Maple Grove Parkway. Report of theft.  Officer responded and found victim had wallet stolen while on public transportation and fraudulent transactions occurred.  The incident is under investigation.

April 22
16400 block of 74th Avenue. Report of theft from vehicle.  Officer responded and found license plate had been stolen from vehicle; no suspect information.

9800 block of Maple Grove Parkway. Report of traffic complaint.  Officer made contact with individual who stated a driver had been tailgating, which resulted in a verbal altercation.  The suspect was gone upon arrival. No charges pursued.

8000 block of Wedgewood Lane.  Report of shoplifting.  The suspect was located nearby and arrested for theft and 5th degree possession of drugs.
 
April 23
93rd Avenue and Pineview Lane North. Officer on routine patrol observed erratic driving behavior.  Contact was made and driver was arrested for DWI and careless driving.

8900 block of Yucca Lane. Report of suspicious activity.  Officer responded and found unknown male had been observed crouched in neighbor’s yard, it was determined there was a group of kids playing a game.
 
April 24
6200 block of Fernbrook Lane. Report of animal complaint.  Officer responded and found injured fox outside of residence.  The animal was safely transported to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for care.
 
1700 block of 83rd Avenue. Report of fire. Officer responded and found debris in recycling truck had caught fire which driver dumped onto street and tried to extinguish. Fire department responded and took over the scene.

11400 block of Fountains Drive. Report of theft. Officer responded and found victim’s wallet had been stolen from cart with subsequent fraudulent activity.  The incident is under investigation.
 
13500 block of 80th Circle. Report of disorderly conduct.  Officer responded and found two adult females had been involved in a verbal altercation due to driving behavior; no charges pursued. 

April 25
10500 block of Troy Lane. Report of fire. Officer responded and found grass had caught fire due to sparks from blown fuse on power pole. Fire department arrived and took over the scene.
 
63rd Avenue and Jewel Lane. Report of harassment. Officer made contact and found homeowner had unwanted solicitor at residence. The individual was located nearby and advised of city license requirements.

April 26
96th Avenue and Blackoaks Lane. Officer on routine patrol observed equipment violation.  Subsequent contact with the driver revealed signs of intoxication and was arrested for DUI.

9400 block of Dunkirk Lane. Report of suspicious activity. Officer responded and found individual was victim of phone call scam where unknown party posed as IRS and asked for payment. No monetary loss and advised to call if further contact.

11800 block of Fountains Way. Report of medical. Officer responded and found individual appeared to have diabetic reaction. Assistance provided until paramedics arrived to offer further aid.

April 27
6700 block of Berkshire Lane. Report of loud party. Officer made contact with the homeowner who stated they were having a birthday party, agreed to comply with city’s noise ordinance.

8600 block of Comstock Lane. Report of harassment. Officer responded and found individual had received offensive text messages from unknown party. Contact was made with the suspect who stated he had texted the wrong number; advised criminal charges could be pursued if continued, suspect assured they would not.

12900 block of 63rd Avenue. Report of unwanted person. Officer responded and found two individuals had not left the business following requests by staff.  The suspects were given trespass notices and advised to leave the scene; no further assistance required.

During this time period there were 14 property damage traffic accidents and five property damage injury traffic accidents.
