Fraud, Duckling Rescue, Burglary: Maple Grove Police Department Incident Report

A synopsis of incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Police Department during the week of May 5-11, 2019.

May 5
  • Garland Lane and 94th Avenue. Report of traffic complaint. Officer made contact with the adult male driver of the vehicle who showed signs of impairment and arrested for DWI.
  • 11800 block of Fountains Way. Report of unwanted persons. Officer responded and found two males had been loitering around business despite being asked multiple times to leave. They were gone on arrival, advised to call if they returned.
  • 7500 block of Zinnia Way. Report of 911 hang-up. Officer responded and found a child had been playing with the phone inside the residence, there were no problems.
May 6
  • 6800 block of Evergreen Lane. Report of suspicious activity. Officer made contact and found two unknown males were seen on security camera in back yard of residence.  It was determined they were employees of a lawn service company and there were no problems. 
  • 15300 block of 75th Avenue. Report of fraud. Officer made contact and found victim had fraudulent activity on her bank accounts, no suspect information.
May 7
  • 7200 block of Forestview Lane. Report of unwanted person. Officer responded and found individual loitering and being disruptive, staff asked him to leave. The suspect was provided transportation from the scene.
  • 16800 block of 91st Avenue. Report of welfare check. Officer responded and found young child appeared to be left unsupervised. Contact was made with the parent who was unaware the child had gone outside. No further assistance needed.
  • 8800 block of Garland Lane. Report of damage to property. Officer responded and found mirror had been broken off car while parked in driveway overnight, no suspect information.
May 8
  • Pineview Lane and 84th Avenue. Officer on routine patrol observed equipment violation.  Contact was made with the driver who displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for DWI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • 8000 block of Shadyview Lane. Report of house fire. Officer responded and found items under deck had started on fire and caused damage to home.  The flames were extinguished with assistance of the fire department. 
  • 12400 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of disorderly conduct. Officer responded and found two female customers had caused a disturbance inside the business. They were gone on arrival, advised to call if they returned and would be trespassed as staff requested. 
May 9
  • 9400 block of Deerwood Lane. Report of theft of vehicle. Officer made contact and found vehicle was stolen from parking lot of business, no suspect information.
  • 12200 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of animal complaint. Officer responded and found duckling had fallen into storm sewer outside of business. It was safely retrieved and transported onto the grass near its mother.
  • 9800 block of 102nd Avenue. Report of welfare check. Officer made contact and found elderly female was out looking for her daughter’s cat and all was fine, no assistance needed.
May 10
  • Elm Creek Boulevard and Jefferson Highway. Officer on routine patrol observed equipment violation. Contact was made with the adult male driver who was arrested for 5th degree possession.
  • 9200 block of Garland Lane. Report of bicycle theft. Officer responded and found two bicycles had been stolen from underground garage, the incident is under investigation.
  • 6900 block of Annapolis Circle. Report of burglary. Officer responded and found miscellaneous tools had been stolen from garage, no suspect information.
May 11
  • I-94 and I-494. Officer on routine patrol observed equipment violation. Contact was made with the adult male driver who showed signs of impairment and was arrested for DWI.
  • 12900 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of disorderly conduct. Officer responded and found two adult males had been involved in a traffic dispute in parking lot of business, which resulted in physical confrontation. Neither party wished to pursue charges and were released from the scene.
During this time period there were 23 property damage traffic accidents and three property damage injury traffic accidents.
