Customer Trouble, Shoplifting, Vehicle Theft: MGPD Incident Report

A synopsis of incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Police Department during the week of May 12-18, 2019. 

May 12

Elm Creek Boulevard and 90th Place North. Officer on routine patrol observed erratic driving behavior. Contact made with adult female driver, who was arrested for DWI and careless driving. 

6300 block of Quinwood Lane. Report of customer trouble. Officer responded and found intoxicated female refusing to exit taxicab. After speaking with her, the female complied, no further assistance needed. 

7900 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of welfare check. Officer responded and found two young children were standing unattended outside of vehicle parked near business. The father returned and stated they must have unbuckled while he ran quick errand, verbal warning given. 

May 13

12500 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of assault. Officer responded and found three females, two of which showed signs of intoxication, had been involved in a verbal dispute that became physical. None of the individuals wished to pursue charges. 

7000 block of Magda Drive. Report of medical incident. Officer responded and found individual experiencing trouble breathing.  Administered aid until ambulance arrived to transport victim to hospital for further care. 

17600 block of Weaver Lake Drive. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer responded and found cash was stolen from unlocked vehicle parked on the street outside of residence. No suspect information. 

May 14

12000 block of 88th Place. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer responded and found three unlocked vehicles parked in driveway of residence had been gone through, a backpack and small amount of cash stolen. No suspect information. 

13500 Grove Drive. Report of disorderly conduct. Officer responded and found employee had been verbally and physically assaulted by an unknown irate customer who had left the business. Advised to call if suspect returned. 

May 15

17300 block of 72nd Avenue. Report of suspicious vehicle. Officer made contact with the two occupants who stated they were homeless and living out of the vehicle. Advised to move to nearby parking lot of business to avoid further issues to which they complied. 

11300 block of Fountains Drive. Report of shoplifting. Officer responded and found bottles of liquor had been stolen, the incident is under investigation. 

8600 block of Terraceview Lane. Report of neighbor trouble. Officer made contact with individual who stated neighbor had been yelling and made threatening remarks due to disagreement, advised to avoid further contact and provided information regarding restraining order. 

May 16

7800 block of Main Street. Report of customer trouble. Officer responded and found irate customer was yelling and screaming at staff and refused to leave the business. The adult male was arrested for trespassing, disorderly conduct, and obstruct legal process.  

13500 block of 80th Circle. Report of forgery. Officer responded and found a female suspect had attempted to cash a forged check and left the business upon further questioning by employee. The incident is under investigation. 

11700 block of Central Park Way. Report of bicycle theft. Officer responded and found two bicycles had been stolen when locked to rack outside of building, no suspect information. 

May 17

6400 block of Berkshire Lane. Report of vehicle fire. Officer responded and found skid-steer parked in yard of residence engulfed in flames. The fire department arrived to take over the scene, there were no injuries or damage to the home. 

6700 block of Hemlock Lane. Report of welfare check. Officer made contact with male sleeping inside vehicle parked outside of school building. He stated he was traveling and needed to rest; there were no issues. 

6500 block of Merrimac Lane. Report of 911 hang-up. Officer responded and found a young child had been playing with the phone and there was no assistance needed. 

May 18

Main Street and Hemlock Lane. Officer on routine patrol observed vehicle commit traffic violation. Contact was made with the adult male driver who was arrested for DWI and careless driving.

11700 block of Central Park Way. Report of theft. Officer responded and found a fish graph had been stolen out of a boat parked in garage; no known suspects. 

9700 block of 63rd Avenue. Report of vehicle theft. Officer responded and found vehicle had been left running outside of business when two individuals drove off in it. The vehicle was recovered abandoned in another jurisdiction. The incident is under investigation. 

During this time period there were 22 property damage traffic accidents and two property damage injury traffic accidents.
