Burglary, Animal Complaint, Suspicious Person: Maple Grove Police Incident Report

A synopsis of some of the incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Police Department during the week of June 16-29, 2019 in Maple Grove.

June 16

11800 block of 80th Avenue. Report of disturbance. Officer responded and found adult male had been knocking on the door of residence for an hour. The male was advised to leave the building since contact could not be made with his acquaintance. No further assistance was needed.

12600 block of 82nd Avenue. Report of welfare check. Officer responded and found adult male sleeping in vehicle outside of business. He was asked to leave the scene.

7800 block of Main Street. Report of missing person. Officer responded and found vulnerable adult male had gone missing during an event. A citizen located him nearby and he was transported safely home.

June 17

Near I-94 & Maple Grove Parkway. Officer on routine patrol observed traffic violation. Contact was made with the adult male driver who exhibited signs of intoxication and was arrested for DWI.

9700 block of 63rd Avenue. Report of theft. Officer responded and found the employee had wallet stolen out of purse while at work with fraudulent transactions occurring. The incident is under investigation.

17000 block of 90th Place. Report of damage to property. Officer responded and found individual’s vehicle had been egged while parked in the driveway of the residence. No suspect Information.

June 18

12500 block of 74th Avenue. Report of animal complaint. Officer responded and found large snapping turtle was in homeowner’s garage. A contractor working on-site offered assistance in transporting the turtle safely to a nearby pond.

11300 block of Red Fox Drive. Report of fraud. Officer responded and found the victim had been contacted by telephone with a Social Security scam; no monetary loss but advised to make a report with federal agencies.

11900 block of Central Park Way. Report of locked bicycle stolen from corral in parking garage; no suspect information.

June 19

7800 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Officer on routine patrol observed equipment violation. Contact was made with the adult male driver who was arrested for DWI and Driving After Suspension.

6300 block of Vinewood Lane. Report of customer trouble. Officer responded and found two customers had been involved in a disagreement with staff; the situation was mediated and no further assistance was needed.

8600 block of Annapolis Lane. Report of theft of bicycle. Officer responded and found bicycle had been stolen from unlocked shed at residence. No suspect information.

June 20 

15000 block of Shadow Creek Road. Report of mail theft. Officer responded and neighbor stated they had found empty envelope addressed to resident on front steps of home when doing vacation check; no suspect information.

9600 block of Maple Grove Parkway. Report of accident. Officer responded and found an adult male driver involved was intoxicated and was arrested for DUI.

6900 block of East Fish Lake. Report of suspicious activity. Officer made contact and found individual requested item dropped off at residence by ex be inspected for anything unusual; all appeared in order.

June 21

12200 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of disturbance. Officer responded and found individual had threatened employer due to discipline; the suspect was subsequently trespassed from the business.

6200 block of Sycamore Lane. Report of welfare check. Officer made contact with male in vehicle parked outside of business who stated he had fallen asleep after work because he was tired; there was no assistance needed. 

15300 block of Grove Circle. Report of shoplifting. Officer responded and found two females had taken miscellaneous merchandise and left the store; they were  arrested for theft and trespassed.

June 22

Near County Road 81 & Maple Grove Parkway. Officer on routine patrol made contact with driver who was traveling at a high rate of speed. The adult male showed multiple signs of intoxication and was arrested for DWI, careless driving, and speeding.

17200 block of 64th Place. Report of animal complaint. Officer responded and found dove had become stuck in a sewer grate. The bird was safely extracted and flew away.

9700 block of 86th Avenue. Report of unwanted person. Officer responded and found employee had been living out of vehicle on property of business and owner wanted them to leave; the individual agreed to comply.

June 23

Near Zachary Lane & Highway 610. Officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Contact with the adult male driver indicated signs of intoxication, and he was  arrested for DWI and careless driving.

9200 block of Zanzibar Lane. Report of suspicious person. Officer made contact with two individuals who were sleeping in a storage closet in the building. They stated they had been asked to leave an apartment due to intoxication. When advised of the complaint, they left the facility.

June 24 

12900 block of 63rd Avenue. Report of property damage. Officer responded and found tires of victim’s car had been slashed while parked outside of business; no suspect information.

Near County Road 101 & Bass Lake Road. Report of theft. Officer responded and found lock had been cut on truck parked at construction site and tools and materials stolen; no suspect Information.

9800 block of Maple Grove Parkway. Report of gas no pay. Officer responded and found suspect vehicle had previously committed gas drive offs and was denied the transaction before leaving the scene; the incident is under investigation.

June 25

13900 block of 85th Place. Report of burglary. Officer responded and found that personal property items had been stolen from garage overnight; no suspect information. 

12800 block of 88th Place. Report of animal complaint. Officer responded and found snapping turtle in background of residence. The turtle was safely transported to a nearby pond and released. 

11200 block of Fountains Drive. Report of shoplifting. Officer responded and found store merchandise had been stolen and the suspect left in a vehicle. The incident is under investigation.

June 26

8500 block of Rosewood Court. Report of vehicle theft. Officer responded and found locked vehicle had been stolen overnight from driveway of residence; no suspect information. 

12300 block of 88th Place. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer made contact and found wallet was stolen from unlocked car parked on street overnight in front of home. Attempted fraudulent transaction occurred in another jurisdiction. No suspect information. 

13000 block of Weaver Lake Road. Report of fraud. Officer made contact and found dishonored check had been received for purchase by suspect; the incident is under investigation.

June 27

Near Maple Grove Pkwy & I-94. Officer on routine patrol made traffic stop for equipment violation. The adult male driver was arrested for driving without valid license and false information to police officer.

18000 block of 82nd Avenue. Report of animal complaint. Officer responded and found bird was trapped inside the residence. A net was used to transport the bird safely outdoors. 

6800 block of East Fish Lake. Report of hunting complaint. Officer made contact and found neighbor had been shooting squirrels. The individual advised of city ordinance and that he could be cited if the activity continued.

June 28

7200 block of Forestview Lane. Report of threats. Officer responded and found individual had been hostile and made threats towards business. No charges pursued but the suspect was served a Trespass Notice. 

15000 block of Grove Circle. Report of shoplifting. Officer responded and found an adult female had stolen items without attempt to pay. The suspect was arrested for theft and trespassed from the business. 

13000 block of Bass Lake Road. Report of harassment. Officer made contact and found individual repeatedly called business and was disrupting work operations. The suspect was informed that continued contact could result in charges being pursued.

June 29

Near Weaver Lake Rd & West Fish Lake Road. Officer on routine patrol observed equipment violation and erratic driving behavior of vehicle. Contact was made with the adult female driver who was arrested for DWI and careless driving.

12000 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of fraud. Officer responded and found individual had made a fraudulent return to business.The incident is under investigation.

7800 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of disorderly conduct.  Officer responded and found an intoxicated and unruly customer had been causing a disturbance, but had left the scene.  Advised to call police if any further problems.
