Community members, members of Maple Grove Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, along with local dignitaries gathered Sunday, July 14, 2019 for the Maple Grove Veterans Memorial Park Dedication Ceremony.

Osseo/Maple Grove American Legion Post 172 Commander Walter Cole presided over the ceremony, which included the Color Guard, flag raising, speaker Joel Skagerberg from Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, speaker Maple Grove Mayor Mark Steffenson, laying of the wreath, as well as ribbon cutting.

The memorial was built for many reasons, including a "place in Maple Grove, to honor all men and women who took time out of their lives to protect our freedoms," but "most of all a place to remember", according to Maple Grove Beyond the Yellow Ribbon.

As a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon city since 2013, Maple Grove supports service members
and their families through a network of agencies, organizations, resources and
employers. For more than three years, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon was working on a Veteran’s Memorial located on southwest corner of Central Park. By selling pavers to be used at the Memorial and hosting other fundraisers, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon secured funds for building the Memorial.
