Burglary, Baby Squirrels, Bicycle Theft: MGPD Incident Report

A synopsis of some of the incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Police Department during the week of Aug. 18-24, 2019 in Maple Grove.

August 18

  • Troy Lane and 82nd Avenue. Officer on routine patrol observed equipment violation on vehicle. Contact made with the adult female driver who indicated signs of impairment. Individual arrested for DWI and careless driving.
  • 11800 block of 80th Avenue. Report of bicycle theft. Officer responded and found individual had parked bicycle outside of building and was stolen by unknown suspect. The incident under investigation.
  • 12800 block of Bass Lake Road. Report of theft. Officer responded and found wallet had been stolen from locker inside of business and fraudulent transactions occurred; the incident is under investigation. 

August 19

  • 9700 block of 86th Avenue. Report of burglary. Officer responded and found items had been stolen from business. The incident is under investigation.
  • 8000 Main Street. Report of animal complaint. Officer responded and found three baby squirrels lying in parking ramp. They were safely transported to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
  • 14000 block of 95th Avenue. Report of suspicious activity. Officer responded and found two males and a dog in a boat on the creek who were training the animal for hunting. There were no weapons present and no further concerns.

August 20

  • 9200 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Officer on routine patrol observed suspicious vehicle parked outside of business. Contact with the individual in the driver’s seat indicated signs of intoxication, and the adult female was arrested for DWI.
  • 16500 block of 96th Avenue. Report of shoplifting. Officer responded and found adult male suspect had stolen merchandise and left the scene in a vehicle. The incident is under investigation.
  • 7000 block of Polaris Lane. Report of disorderly conduct. Officer responded and found two neighbors had been involved in a verbal altercation, which had escalated. Both parties agreed to hold off pursuing charges until they went to mediation.

August 21

  • Bass Lake Road and County Road 10. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer responded and found wallet had been stolen from unlocked vehicle parked at construction site with subsequent fraudulent transactions. No suspect information.
  • 9500 block of Dunkirk Lane. Report of theft. Officer made contact and found individual had left wallet unattended while inside business and it was stolen, unknown suspect.
  • 12100 block of Main Street. Report of theft. Officer responded and found adult female had taken a bottle of wine from restaurant and attempted to leave the scene. The suspect was arrested for theft and trespassed from the business.

August 22

  • 13700 block of Grove Drive. Report of medical. Officer responded and found individual with difficulty breathing and offered aid until ambulance arrived to transport victim to hospital for further care.
  • 11400 block of Fountains Drive. Report of fraud. Officer responded and found employee had been creating fraudulent returns.  The suspect was arrested for theft.
  • Vinewood Lane and Arbor Lakes Parkway. Officer on routine patrol conducted traffic stop. Subsequent contact revealed an intent by the owner to escape motor vehicle tax and the two adult occupants were arrested for possession of controlled substance.   

August 23

  • Weaver Lake Road and Elm Creek Boulevard. Officer on routine patrol observed equipment violation. The adult male driver showed signs of intoxication and was arrested for DWI.
  • 11200 block of 86th Avenue. Report of suspicious activity. Officer responded and found employee had observed unknown party loading items into a vehicle parked outside of business. Contact was made with the individual who stated he was cleaning the building, there were no problems.
  • 9600 block of 105th Avenue. Report of theft from vehicle. Officer responded and found wallet had been stolen overnight from unlocked vehicle parked in driveway of residence, unknown suspect. 

August 24

  • 11600 block of Fountains Drive. Report of shoplifting. Officer responded and found suspect had stolen merchandise and ran from store, leaving in a vehicle.  The incident is under investigation.
  • 16400 block of Country Road 30. Report of damage to property. Officer responded and found window of vehicle was broken while parked outside place of employment; nothing appeared to be missing. The incident is under investigation. 
During this time period there were 23 property damage traffic accidents and three property damage injury traffic accidents.
