Maple Grove City Council Approves Police Therapist Service Contract

At the Dec. 16, 2020 Maple Grove City Council meeting, the council approved a contract for services for a police therapist. 

"Police officers encounter high risk situations on a regular basis and frequently are involved in critical incidents that can affect their well-being," Maple Grove Police Chief Eric Werner wrote in a memo to the council, citing a national recommendation about the wellness and safety of law enforcement officers.

The Maple Grove City Council approved entering entering in to a contract with Marie Ridgeway LICSW, LLC to provide police therapist services.

Services available to police department staff include individual confidential therapy sessions, critical incident check-ins, on-site consultation, and other services. 

The funding for services was included in the 2020 general fund budget
