Press Event and Public Q&A for Fish Lake Alum Treatment
On Wednesday 9/20/17 at 10 AM in the Fish Lake Three Rivers Park pavilion there will be a press event and public Q&A regarding the alum treatment that will return the water clarity of Fish Lake to the point it was 50 years ago! Representatives from Three Rivers Park District, the managing governmental entity, and HAB Aquatic Solutions, the application contractor, will answer questions and have equipment available for inspection. The treatment will be applied 9/18-22/2017. Over the past ten years, Fish Lake Area Residents Association (FLARA), along with Three Rivers Park District, the Elm Creek Watershed and the City of Maple Grove, have worked to reduce the phosphorous in Fish Lake and restore the clarity of the water. In late 2016, the MN Clean Water & Legacy Fund issued a $200,000 Clean Water Foundation grant for the Fish Lake alum treatment. The Elm Creek Watershed, Three Rivers Park District, the City of Maple Grove and FLARA funded the remaining $100,000 for the project.
