Maple Grove Quilters Quilt Show
Join us for our biennial show to see over 100 quilts, vendors, Red Pine Quilt Shop and Noble Quilter, demonstrations, prizes and raffle quilt.
If you are looking for some creative inspiration, you will find that—and more—by attending the Maple Grove Quilters Quilt Show – Friends of a Feather Quilt Together. More than 100 quilts of all shapes, sizes and designs will be displayed during the two-day event. At the show, you will find a variety of quilt styles made by the creative members of Maple Grove Quilters. Guests in attendance are asked to vote on their favorite quilts. The quilts receiving the most votes win prizes. In addition to the many quilts that can be viewed, the guild will raffle off a queen-size quilt made by guild members. This year’s raffle quilt holds special meaning and memories for the Maple Grove Quilters. Just over two years ago, the guild lost one of its long-time members, Paula Boatright. She was a cherished member who is greatly missed. Paula bequeathed some of her personal possessions to her beloved Maple Grove Quilters’ group. Most of the fabric used in this year’s raffle quilt (batik and Cherrywood fabrics) came from Paula’s “stash” that the group received. The design was selected by the Raffle Committee which was adapted from the pattern Pepper Quilt by Susan Bradley in the Big Book of Scrap Quilts, published by Oxmoor house in 2005. The machine quilting was completed by group member, Tammie Hammerstad. Raffle tickets are $1 and can be purchased before the show from a guild member or at the Quilt Show. In addition to the raffle grand prize, the group made a secondary, smaller quilt that was quilted by Cindy Kujawa as a second place prize. Additionally, the show will have a boutique with items for sale that were completed by guild members such as tote bags, wall hangings, potholders, microwave bowl, tissue covers, hand-painted thimbles, pillowcases, zipper bags, table runners, pillows, purses and many other items. The show will also have two quilt shops: The Noble Quilter from Elk River and Red Pine Quilt Shop from Detroit Lakes, MN. The quilt shops will have fabrics, patterns and notions for sale, in addition to showing demonstrations in their booths of various new products and techniques. The show runs Friday, May 3, from 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday, May 4, from 9 am to 4 pm at the Maple Grove Community Center. Admission is $5 (cash and checks are accepted).
